Richard Warren Porter Monday, December 14, 1925 - Monday, May 15, 2017

Ticonderoga. Richard Warren Porter, 91, of Ticonderoga, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017, at Heritage Commons Residential Health Care of Ticonderoga. Born in Brooklyn, December 14, 1925, he was the son of the late Mason and Mary (Latimer) Porter. Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, during W.W. II, having served in the Pacific Theatre. He has been a resident of Ticonderoga since 1950 and was a member of the American Legion Post # 224 of Ticonderoga. He was employed by the International Paper Company of Ticonderoga for many years and was then employed by the Labor Union of North America Local # 186, prior to his retirement. Richard enjoyed his retirement for over 30 years. He loved walking, spending time with his grandchildren, and attending sporting events. He was pre-deceased by his parents, and his four siblings, Walter Porter, Howard Porter, Milton Porter and Pearl White. He is survived by his four sons, Brian Porter (Sharon) of Warrensburg, Kyle K. Porter (Donna), Richard Porter (Tammy), and Kelly Porter (Debra), and also his daughter-in-law, Robin Porter, all of Ticonderoga. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, including Karen Porter Whalen and Bobby Porter, who he was very close to. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will take place on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the family plot of the May Memorial Cemetery of Hague. The Rev. Mr. Elliott A. Shaw will officiate.
